The village of Nohia is south west from Chania town of Crete and has a long tradition in hand-made pottery.
NOHIA village is located south west of Chania at a distance about 30 km and administratively belongs to the Municipality of Platanias.
It was pottery center with a large number of kilns. The unique shape of the Nohia "stamna" characterize their potters.
Though the "stamna"  follow the traditional shape of Cretan yet is their large size makes them stand out. Even today there are potteries in NOHIA which manufactures various utilitarian and decorative ceramics.
